DORCAS OKE HOPE ALIVE INITIATIVE
When Dorcas Oke, the only daughter of Ibadan-based preacher, Bishop Francis Wale Oke, died in 2001 of complications resulting from the use of adulterated drugs to treat typhoid fever, it broke the hearts of many. But, little did they know that her death would bring life to many children in distress and in hopeless circumstances. The late Miss Oke was a 300-level student of Engineering at the University of Lagos before her death. The 17-year -old had typhoid fever and was given drugs, which, unknown to medics and her parents, were adulterated.
Bishop Francis Wale Oke and his wife Victoria decided to immortalize their “angel” with a charity organization christened Dorcas Hope Alive Initiative (DOHAL).
Dorcas Oke Hope Alive Initiative is a faith-based non-governmental organization in Nigeria, working in the field of health and development. DOHAL was established in Honor of Dorcas Oke the beloved daughter of Bishop Francis Wale Oke, whose life was tragically cut short by the devastating consequences of counterfeit medication. Dorcas fell victim of typhoid, a treatable illness, yet her journey was marred by the administration of fake drugs, ultimately leading to her untimely demise.

To improve the total quality of life of individuals particularly youth, through information, education and counselling on preventable and health concerns and empowerment program delivered in an integrated and sustainable approach.

— Our Philosophy
DOHAL works with the philosophy that every human being is created in the image of God and that life is indeed sacred. Therefore, individual lives must be preserved from all negative and destructive forces. DOHAL is set up to improve the total quality of life of the individual, particularly the African Child.
